my thoughts on laptop eiquette
let me paint you a picture of a typical day at the hodgson household. (this pictures, consequently just finished drying) emma and anna decide that they are both tired and need to go to sleep at the same time. this, usually presents no problem because being that there are two of them and two of us we can utilize a man to man defense as opposed to a zone defense like @ngie has instituted. so we take the girls into their room to put them down for the night. i have perfected the ’swaddle’ technique and am able to get anna to sleep in under a minute. it takes danielle usually 15 minutes to get emma to sleep. not that i am better or anything like that it just takes a bit more to stop a speeding locomotive than a stampeding caterpillar.
so… since i figure i have a bit of time on my hands and its been a while since i strolled thru my blogdom, i thought i would catch up on my blogfriends. the number of sites that i frequent is immaterial for the point of this discussion. lets say that it is more that 3 and less than 10. (chances are good that if are reading this you are in fact a part of that number… congrats) now, i am at my second stop getting ready to read the 51 comments already posted and danielle walks out into the living room where i am seated comfortable on my big red couch (those of you that have been to my home know how big and red the aforementioned couch is and can imagine how comfortable i was not only in my blogolicious utopia but also in my big red couch)
danielle plots down next to me (also enjoying that bigness and the redness of the couch). i am under the impression that she is doing this to either a) bring great joy to my life by cuddling up next to me as i peruse eworld b) merely enjoy the big red couch that happens to under me or c) some combination of the two. apparently there was a fourth much more devious option that i was unaware of. it was to usurp and cut short my blogadelicness. she without asking or telegraphing her intentions or anything TOOK THE LAPTOP!!!!!!! this is actually a bit of over exaggeration. she, truth be told, slid it over so it was on both of our laps so she could read easier. BUT STILL… I WAS READING THAT!!!!!!
the whole event took about 5 minutes and now i have it back. now that i have had a chance to reminisce, it took me longer to write and you longer to read this than i had to wait to get the laptop back.
i’m done complaining now.

hi my name is daniel and i’m a wordpresser… apparently
It still made for an entertaining and insightful post!
(Sounds like she’s sneaky.)
If I’m not mistaken your wife was in “blogdom” (as you call it) long before you. I think it would be good for your marriage if you got your own laptop. At least you and her don’t play scrabble on facebook: you on the desktop upstairs and her on the laptop downstairs…that would be sad.
At any rate, this made me laugh out loud…which helped cheer me up from an unfriendly laptop enounter I had minutes ago.
What is a zone defense? Is it a good thing? Total non-sports person here – sorry. Not that I am against sports, just lack of exposure is all.
DaRonn has a work lap top – that creeps it’s way into the house every once in a while – ok all the time. And he has a play lap top. The kids have a lap top. And your truly has a lap top. (If you were counting that is 4.) Get yourself a lap top.
It was fun hearing about your day. I laughed at the stampeding caterpillar part.
i love your big red couch. niel made himself at home on it really quickly…
So, ummmm ….. you set up churches for a living, right?
…. Have you ever thought of … writing?
Seriously. People would pay for this.
this is from ihatebloggers.com
i love cheese cake and the cinderalla in real live video. saw it twice in one day
amperst@ngie – a zone defense is when there are more of ‘them’ than ‘us’. instead of one parent taking care of one child, one parent floats between multiple opponents, er… i mean children. it is a good thing.
also, the laptop is technically mine. we bought it when i got involved with a mortgage service. danielle just rutienally makes sure it is in proper working condition.
ihatebloggers.com – cheesecake yum. cinderella movie yeah
annie – thank you for breathing new life into my already inflated blog-ego
is “ihatebloggers” related to the “antiblog”?
it sure is a shame…we’d love to hear more from you and i know your spouse would love to hear the clickety, clickety, clack of little keyboard sounds.
but you’re right…cheesecake is gooooood.
You guys crack me up. We are the same way, so we finally got our own computers. And, sadly, we do play Scrabble on the computer with each other in the same room. It’s the only way that Jon can beat me in a game of Scrabble. He moves the letters around til it will accept it as a word. ha ha! Anyways, thought I should let you know that we’re watching you. — Jon & Kristi Lewis
